Meet the Team

Meet Sam & Rachael, the Lord and Lady of the Mill.

Rachael is all things people and culture, with plenty of hospitality experience under her belt.

Sam worked his way from cloakroom attendant to General Manager. Together with beaming smiles and with service in their soul, they bring you their latest adventure, The Mill at Rode.

Toby

The Land Dog. Head of checking chew-ability of furniture, the best laps to snooze upon & always there for HR advice. Always willing to show the other local pooch crew the best walks in Rode.

Cory

Head Chef Cory is no stranger to the kitchen. With experience across many country house hotels, stints in London, Salcombe and a rosette or two under his belt. We are lucky to have him!

Aleisha

Aleisha plays a crucial role in leading the front of house team here at the Mill. She assists in overseeing and coordinating schedules, and ensuring a smooth day to day operation. Aleisha is a valuable asset to the team, bringing her expertise and leadership skills to the front. (alongside some tasty cocktails!)

Connor

Sous Chef Connor is a devoted father, and talented chef. With experience at many a Bath Manor, and a time spent honing his garden to plate skills in Wales, this true Wiltshire boy is an asset to the brigade.

Kevin

Undercover boss - When Kevin isn't busy wooing the ladies, he's hard at work as an all round kitchen assistant, painter decorator, and full time staff entertainer.

Dan

Demi Chef Dan is a growing talent, and we are lucky to be able to let him do it alongside us! Full of personality and eager to learn, Dan is a very tolerant and patient part of the kitchen brigade.

The Mill in history

The Mill has an extensive history, dating as far back as 1559. The most well known record of The Mill was that of the Batten family, who purchased The Mill from the Hungerford family in 1741.  Henry Batten Pooll took over  the running of The Mill from his Great Uncle in 1807 and began running it as a cloth factory. The industry fell to a decline in 1850 and was reimagined as a corn mill until 1897. The Mill was again sold on from the Batten Pooll Rode Manor estate in 1955, and laid derelict until it was rescued in 1996.

Rumour has it that the colour "Royal Blue" was created at this Mill.
